"Jeepers Creepers" (Clampett; 1939):
Merrie
Melodies: After the ghost appears as a hitchhiker ("Goin' my way, bud?"), Porky
backs his police car with a sign that says, "No Riders!" The deletion was
after Porky's vehicle backfires in the ghost's face, causing the ghost in
blackface to do an impersonation of Jack Benny's famous valet: "My, oh,
my! Tattletale gray!" The picture abruptly faded to black as Porky drives
his car past the hitchhiking ghost, and the shot went distant, so that one
did not see the backfire/blackface gag at all.
Nickelodeon: Same edit as on Merrie Melodies, though the ending
blackface gag is "irised-out" as Porky's car backfires on the ghost.
Syndicated: In the redrawn version, the closing gag was colored so that the
ghost is in purple face (he is painted yellow throughout the rest of the
cartoon)! Also, the traced version has the ghost appearing solid and not
transparent like he is in the black-and-white and computer-colored
versions.
"The Jet Cage" (Freleng; 1962):
ABC:
Missing was the entire scene with the Nike rocket.
"Jumpin' Jupiter" (Jones; 1955):
ABC:
The scene wherein Porky mistakes the Jupiter buzzard for an Indian was
edited so that Porky's references to "rugs and trinkets" and "friendly
Navajo" that consolidate the gag of his error were gone.
